Waiting For Her Moment: The Journey of Brittnie Brooks

Professional wrestling is built around moments. For Brittnie Brooks, one of her biggest moments to date came in 2023 when she became the inaugural and youngest wrestler to win the Dreamwave Women’s Championship against Zayda Steel, a moment that Brooks has been preparing for since she first fell in love with the industry.
Her introduction to wrestling was much like that of many other wrestlers: watching larger-than-life stars on television with her family.
“I saw my brother watching SmackDown one day and instantly got hooked. This was around 2011–2012, and I was only like 6 or 7 years old. I quickly became obsessed with WWE, watching it every week, begging for merchandise, pleading to go to the shows whenever they came to town, and saving up all my money to try to buy tickets.”
From that point on, her passion only grew. She attended her first live wrestling event in 2013. “That’s when I realized that it was something I could actually do.”
At 14, Brooks discovered the Arizona Wrestling Federation, a local wrestling school. She began in the kids’ program before eventually moving into the adult classes and making her in-ring debut. That first match only strengthened her desire to pursue wrestling despite her young age and the nerves that came with stepping into the ring.

Now nearly 6 years into her career, those early nerves have faded, but Brooks acknowledges the challenges she faces in a cut-throat industry where pressure comes from both fans and herself.
“I struggle a ton with self-image and confidence a lot of the time. It takes a lot to constantly remind myself that everyone’s path is different, and we are all on God’s timing. Things will happen when they are supposed to. I have been so close to so many huge, life-changing opportunities, and although they didn’t happen, I can’t live in the what-ifs. I can only live in what did happen.”
One of those breakthrough moments arrived this year when Brooks earned opportunities to wrestle for both TNA and AEW. The recognition came on the heels of another major accomplishment, being one of six women selected to compete in a WWE ID Championship match at Beyond Wrestling's Wrestling Open RI. Yet despite those achievements, Brooks isn't content with simply collecting milestones. Her focus remains on the ultimate goal she's pursued since she was a child.
“My goal since the moment I realized that wrestling was something I could do was to be in the WWE. It’s all I’ve ever wanted. It’s my dream job. It’s my everything. I have never had a tryout, and I know that when I do, the stars will align.”
For Brittnie Brooks, the little girl who spent hours in front of the television dreaming of getting in the ring is now building big moments with some of the industry’s biggest names; with her biggest one waiting just beyond the curtain.
